There are no formal qualifications or prerequisites required for applying for this certification. However, it is recommended that the candidate should have at least 1-3 years experience in the fields of networking before he applies for this certification.
Required exams
No exams are required specifically for Cisco CCNA. That means the candidate applying for this certification does not need to sit for any qualifying examination. However, the process of getting the certification involves exams like Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE), Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks (SWITCH), Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks (TSHOOT), Designing Cisco Network Service Architecture, Deploying Cisco Service Provider Advanced Routing and some more.

No mandatory course or course materials are there that a particular candidate should follow in order to get the certification successfully. However, they are advised to enroll for some training conducted by Cisco only.
